Neil Vokes'
Hammer Glamour Gallery

Neil VokesNeil Vokes is a 20-year veteran of the comics industry. His work was published by both of the two major comic book publishers - Marvel (Untold Stories of Spider-Man ) and DC (Superman Adventures ) - as well as a whole bunch of other companies, e.g. Malibu's Tarzan the Warrior, Crystal/Apple's Eagle or Comico's Robotech Masters.

His drawing style is very distinct and easily recognisable. Though drawn realistically, his characters often display a large dash of caricaturesque elements. Especially his female characters are often ravishing beauties.

He has lately been more involved in individual projects that allow his artistic talents to be displayed in full: Last year's Parliament of Justice was a resounding critical success. This year's The Black Forest promises to be even more exciting: The 96 page publication - due out on March 31 - combines the grittiness of World War I with a Universal Monster style free for all including the Frankenstein Monster and Dracula.

A week prior to the publication, there will be an original Internet radio serial featuring characters and situations from the book. Each episode will be 7 to 10 minutes long. And none other than Yvonne Monlaur has just completed her role for that broadcast.

The fact that one of the Hammer Glamour ladies was asked to be involved will come as no surprise for anyone familiar with Neil's work as he is one of the biggest fans of Hammer and classic horror movies in general. He has often submitted work to Hammer related fanzines such as The Little Shoppe of Horror and The Cushing Companion. Denis Meikle's recent book Vincent Price: The Art of Fear also features a large number of illustrations by him.

He has kindly given permission to reproduce some of his Hammer Glamour related images on this site.
