Paul
J Brown: Everything But The Nipple: Valerie Leon – A Pictorial Celebration.
Upton (Cambs): Midnight Media 1995.
This is an excellent booklet full
of often rare
and beautiful pictures of Leon’s career. The title pays homage to her
comment that she would show, well, everything but the nipple when being
photographed, though the wet T-Shirt pic on the final page proves even that
comment wrong. There is also a little biography and interview with the
actress, but it is the photos that make this an absolute Must Have.

Little
Shoppe of Horrors #12,
p. 84ff: Interview with Tim Greaves
Little Shoppe of Horrors #12 features a lengthy interview with Valerie
Leon. She once and for all announces that the nude scene in Blood From
The Mummy’s Tomb was indeed
done by a body double. The interview is prefaced by a
wonderful drawing from Neil Vokes and also features some rare contact shots
that show her together with director Seth Holt and Peter Cushing from the
first days of shooting. Cushing had to cancel his participation in the movie
due to the death of his wife. The bulk of this edition of LSoH is dedicated
to Dennis Wheatley
movies made by Hammer. |

Tim
Greaves: The Bond Women – 007 Style. 1-Shot Publications, 2002. p. 51.
Tim Greaves, Glamour
Author Extraodinaire, dedicates one page of his excellent Bond Girl Survey
to Valerie Leon and her role as the Hotel Receptionist in The Spy Who
Loved Me. Apparently she got the part as she didn’t want to be killed
off, so Caroline Munro ended up playing the much larger part of Naomi who
does get killed off! |

Steve
Sullivan: Glamour Girls – The Illustrated Encyclopedia. New York: St
Martin’s Griffin, 1999. p. 186.
Valerie Leon ranks as #586 in Steve Sullivan’s Encyclopedia. She is
described as a “devastatingly sultry, curvaceous 5-foot-10 brunette”. Can’t
help but agree with this estimate. |
